October Combine Training Results
Ayr Riding Club Combined Training 27th of October 2007
Well thats the first of the combined training events past without too many incidents. I hope everyone had an enjoyable day, we were very busy and we had changed the format slightly by giving out showjumping times in the morning which was easier to manage for us and seemed to work fine. In the afternoon we ran 3 dressage arenas at the one time which was hard work to manage but we got there in the end.
I have to say a huge thanks you to everyone who helped, these events take so much time and effort for the committee and we do struggle for volunteers to help on the day, but unfortunately we could not run these events without our volunteers. Kerrie was just a star and my right hand girl on the day and the run up to the event, Stephen McGregor was the "really strict chap" at the warm up arena and did a tremendous job keeping you all on your toes and making sure the day ran to time, he also put up practice fences and without him we really would of run so late (and I was going to a party that night so that would not be good).
Linda Cochrane was there all day stewarding in the morning and then writing in the afternoon and also fitting in a wee dressage test on the day too. Gail Greenfield worked wonders along with Stephen to get all the showjumping classes running smoothly also rebuilding fences and raising the heights. My own husband Kevin was writing for the showjump judge all morning then stewarding in the afternoon he did try to take over at a few points but I put my foot down - as usual!!!. We had writers Jillian and Sheila who had not written before and did a fantastic job for their dressage judges.
There were many more who helped out in between riding, Caroline Vance was an excellent poop scooper, Alison, Mugs and Amanda laid out the arenas and many of you helped us put all the fences away. A big thanks as always to the committee members who all helped as usual and thanks to Eric for helping Kerrie with her sums. The next Combined training will be in December and we all will have commitments at that time of year but if anyone has a few hours to spare then please get in touch - your riding club needs you !!!!!! Thanks again and hope to see everyone again in December.
