March 08 Combined Training

Today was the last Combined Training event of this season and was very well attended indeed.  I hope everyone had a very enjoyable day even though it was quite a long day for most.  Thank you Angus for all your efforts in organising the event.  We had some excellent results and lots of very well turned out horses and riders.  I have to extend a huge thank you to all the wonderful helpers today who gave up their precious time to make the event possible.

They included our Show Jumping stewards Alison Newton, Susan Clark and the girls who kept you all on your toes, rebulit fences and helped us make up a bit of time which was great as we were so busy.  Our show jump judges Jean Thomson and Mary Fulton who ran the show jumping like true professionals. Thelma Black who, as always gives up her time to help our course builder Stephen build all the fences and prepare the arenas the night before thank you both.  Everyone who helped clear the arena of the showjumps which is an exahusting job and then the laying of the dressage arenas which had to be done in record time this time.  Mugs rallied a team up to do this job and although I dont know exactly who you all are thanks for all your help.  To Mugs as usual for her organisational skills in arranging this and allowing us to start dressage10 minutes early. 

Also thanks Frances Baker and Charlie who made a special journey to just come and help us take showjumps down and arrange arenas I am so grateful to you both.  My fabulous friends Karen and Kate who are members of another riding club but also helped me with the Stewarding, I owe you both and also Jillian Cooper who slotted in even though she was shattered.  Our poor frozen writers Pat Kennedy, Kath Ogilvie, Lynda Cochrane and Debbie Wareham.  Finally to our scorers the lovely Rita Stuart our secretarys mum, Fiona Rawson who did a bit of everything all day and Carole.  Not forgetting the committee members who as always chip in Kara, Caroline, Elana who convinced so many to buy raffle tickets and last but by no means least Kerrie who always makes it look so easy but that is probably because I am running about like a headless chicken. 

Thanks also to Rowallan for supporting us throughout these events.  We look forward to seeing all our members out and about but failing that we will see you all for the start of our new Combined Training season in October.
