Calling All Seasoned and Prospective Fence Judges
Dear (prospective) Fence Judge
THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WASN'T!! Well it is time to put the annus
horribilis of 2007 behind us and turn it into the annus mirabilis of
2008! There were so few trials that actually took place (and those that
did were not completed) that I hope everybody is bursting with
enthusiasm to help with the planned events for the coming summer.
NEWS:
Eglinton Horse Trials is 50 years old this year. It is the
longest-running horse trials, that has had the same organiser since its
inception, in Britain. Let's make it a year for Miss Heather Galbraith
to remember?
Auchinleck is running in the same format with two very busy days, so we
need a lot of help for that. My son's wedding is that weekend so I will
not be there. As I am handing over to others I would really apreciate if
I could have this weekend organised very early to make it easy for those
taking over from me.
The week following Auchinleck there is a Pony Club cross country which
includes some of the smallest riders and is a great fun event.
Culzean Horse Trials has come to an end. Health and safety, and a number
of other factors, have lead to the demise of the trials. HOWEVER - we
have a new event in place of it at Turnberry!
This event will be intro and pre novice for this year and a novice class
wil be added in due course.
In October there is the Riding Club's cross country event at Titwood, as
last year.
There are lots of dates to choose from and I hope you will enjoy being
part of some of the action.
DATES OF COMPETITIONS:
Eglinton Horse Trials - Friday 4th and Saturday 5th July
Auchinleck Horse Trials - Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th July
Pony Club cross country competition 26th July
Turnberry Horse Trials - Sunday 31st August
Riding Club cross country competition - 4th October
PLEASE if you can help at any of the above dates then e-mail me and I
will definitely get back to you.
Even if you can't, or don't want to, I would appreciate if you could let
me know and then it saves me wondering if you received the e-mail or not.
I try very hard not to have people on more than one list to ensure that
they only receive one communication from me. If you do get more than one
e-mail then let me know and I will adjust my records. Dealing with so
many people is sometimes difficult. Also, if you wish me to take your
name off the list and stop contacting you then, again, just let me know.
It is very important for competitors to repay others by helping out when
not competing.
All the competitions cannot run without a massive input from volunteers
and your help is appreciated so much. It is very gratifying that so many
people enjoy helping and get a great deal of enjoyment from being there
on the day.
I look forward to hearing from you and starting my endless lists to make
sure all the events run smoothly.
