I joined Ayr Riding Club when I moved to Kilmaurs in 2004. My husband and I had moved down from Newton Mearns and stabled our horses with Mugs so we didnt have an option but to join the riding club! I later came onto the committee and have since become Chairperson. I have been riding horses for donkeys years and as a serving police officer spent 6 years working with Strathclyde Police Mounted Section. Since leaving the police horses I bought my own horse Indi and have had lots of fun with her. I am not the bravest person when it comes to jumping but have a go at the clear rounds whenever I get the chance. We also have a bash at dressage from time to time but mostly I enjoy the social side of the riding club and if I get to take my wee horse along it makes it all the more enjoyable.

I joined Ayr Riding Club 5 years ago, and came onto the committee in 2004. In November 2006 I took on the role of secretary, which I fit into my busy work schedule as an air traffic controller. I originally bought my horse to do a bit of hacking on the beach, then got addicted! Bonnie and I have done a little bit of everything from dressage to XC (at very novice levels!!). Our greatest achievement was competing (and surviving!) at Burgie Horse Trials in the Riding club 3 day event in 2006.
Here’s a picure of us at Burgie.

I
joined ARC about 8 years ago and have had a lot of enjoyment competing in the
ODE teams. Before that I travelled the length and breadth of the country doing
BSPS working hunter and showing classes. My husband David runs cross country
and marathons so it is a bit hectic trying to decide who gets to what competition.
My little boy Campbell is rising 3 but at the moment seems to have a passion
for chickens and cows despite the fact there is a very cute pony at the back
door. My parents are very horsey people my Mum rides and my Dad drives so horses
have always been part of every day life. My animal pack is made up of 2 horses,
3 dogs and 2 rabbits. I work part time as a Payroll Manager which is time I
seem to not wear wellies.

I have been on the committee now for 7 years and have had various posts, my most recent being Training Officer. Being involved in Ayr RC has played a big part in my life and I have met some fantastic friends and have had some great fun along the way!
I am also a keen member of British Eventing and currently compete at Intermediate level on Absolute Pride (Oakey) who I have produced since a youngster.
Having recently been awarded my EFI and UKCC Level 2 Coaching Certificates, I am enjoying getting out and about teaching as well as riding other peoples horses.
Oakey and I can be seen here competing at Floors Castle Horse trials.

I have been a member of ARC since 2002 just about when I purchased my first horse. I was a late starter and had only just sat on a horse for the first time 12 years ago and without giving my age away I was an adult (and I'm still learning to ride ). I compete in Dressage and Showing with my Welsh D cob, Grant. I have recently purchased a youngster Hannovarian x Welsh PB, to bring on and with any luck eventually compete in few years.

I joined Ayr Riding Club 18 months ago after much needed encouragement from my husband, relatives and friends as I had been away from the horse world due to work and family commitments for a very long time.
I have been very fortunate in finding my lovely horse 'Nat' who is a 16.3hh, 13 year old TB/ Trakhener and we presently compete at Novice/Elementary Dressage. He is not only brilliant but tremendous fun and quite a character.
Here we are on a very cold clay in January after a bit of high jinks in the snow.
Occasionally we step out of our comfort zone and try a little jumping which is a source of great delight for 'Nat' who insists on zooming over everything as I try to look proficient.
We are having a lot of fun together at schooling venues and competitions and owe a lot of our success to the instructors and trainers the Riding Club provides.
Although happier these days staying 'on the ground' I previously loved jumping and riding cross country and in my younger days worked in various hunting and point to point yards in Scotland and England before settling down and training for my Instructors exams.
'Nat' and I hope to continue to improve in elementary and maybe try some medium tests this year, so stacks more training sessions lie ahead and I hope to meet lots of you on our jaunts.
