What to wear? - Compulsory Rules at any RC Activity

These rules are some of the most important, and should be followed at any time when mounted at a riding club activity, please see further pages more general rules and competitions.

Rider

  1. Hard Hat - At any time when mounted the rider must wear a hard hat - to at least the following standards:
    • Marked EN1384, PAS015 or prefixed with ASTM or SEI and carry the quality assurance stamp of Kitemark or SEI
    • OR American standard SNELL E2001 or Austrailian/New Zealand standard SNZ 3838 1998
    • Skullcaps must be worn with a silk
    • (exception is quadrille team during actual performance)
  2. Body Protector - obligatory for cross-country and recommended for Show Jumping
    • Must be approved to Class 3
  3. Jewellery - No jewellery that may become entangled or cause danger or discomfort
  4. Spurs - not to be of excessively severe design
    • Must be made of metal
    • must not be used to reprimand a horse
  5. Hair Nets - may be used, hair must not hang lower than the shoulder line
  6. Whip - use of whip must be
    • for a good reason
    • at an appropriate time
    • in the right place - never on head or neck
    • with correct severity (should not mark horse and no more than 3 times per incident)

Saddlery and Tack

  1. Saddle - english type saddle or side saddle
    • seat savers and saddle covers not permitted at competitions
  2. Use of fine wire, twine or cord in or around the horses mouth is forbidden
  3. Stallions - must wear a bridle tag
